Just want to tell you how fortunate you are to have Manny and John in your company. They are kind, considerate, and a pleasure to have them working in your home. They did a fantastic job and if we decide to put more carpeting down we would request them. Thanks for this great service. All the best Sylvia S.

Beautiful Floors and Stairs and Excellent Service

04-17-2008

I\'m nuts for services. Now I don\'t think that I expect much, just call backs, followup, and genuine willingness to help if something went wrong. But today, in this outsourced, bottom line, next transaction world, it is extremely hard to find. You can stop looking because you get that and more with National Floors Direct. I have seen them make significant investments in their customer service team, including someone who follows up usually on very next day of your work to make sure that everything is to your satisfaction. If you do have any issues they make you an appointment and someone comes out and makes it right, no arguing, no explaining, just ask and you shall receive. You feel like you have not only purchased a floor (in my case hardwood floors in my kitchen, dining room, hallways and two sets of stairs) but you have entered into a partnership with them. Hardwood Stairs... if you have ever had to get quotes for these, you better be ready for sticker shock. National Floors Direct had not only a great price that beat their competitors, their product was far superior and the job was done quickly. Most companies don\'t stock stairs and it will take you months to get these installed, with National Floors it was just a day. I can\'t say enough about Raymond D and team. They were amazing. The way they finished my hardwood stairs with molding to cover where the builder of my house left raw edges was an example of the \"little extras\" that you experience with the top installers at NFD. It\'s these \"extras\" that save you not only time, and money, but the aggrevation of finding someone to do the finishing word. At NFD they care about the whole job and how your home looks, not just throwing in your floor and leaving. The no interest/no payments for one year is a huge help, especially when you are doing a large job. It allows you to have the floors that you always wanted, when you want them (like the very next day), and also give yourself time to budget over the year how you will pay for them. Thank you for my floors but also for your service and an ongoing partnership. I\'ll be calling you back for carpets!! Dorothy.

Tips for Caring for Your Hardwood floor

Solid hardwood floors, as well as engineered hardwood flooring, are very popular because of their natural beauty and their long lifespan. Properly cared for, a solid hardwood floor can last almost as long as your home does.

Dirt and grit are very harmful for your hardwood floors, because when ground underfoot they are literally like sandpaper. Sweeping or vacuuming your hardwood floors often can prevent dirt and grit from being ground into the floor, and preserve the natural beauty of your floors. When you need to clean your hardwood floors, avoid oil soaps, as they cause a buildup on the floor and can interfere with a maintenance coat of wax. Instead, stick with a neutral-pH cleaner made especially for natural wood floors

Water can damage a poorly finished floor if allowed to soak in. Standing water is never a good idea on your hardwood floor, so make sure you wipe up all spills quickly

Many people forget to put felt pads under their furniture or lift it onto a blanket when moving it on hardwood floors.. Furniture can leave dents or scratches in the finish of your floor. Be careful to lift furniture or slide it on a surface like a blanket; never drag it across your hardwood floor.

When vacuuming your hardwood flooring, use a vacuum with a bare floor attachment; never use a vacuum with a carpet beater bar on a hardwood floor

Sweeping with a broom or a dust mop treated with a special wood floor dust mop treatment can catch all the dirt and grit that otherwise would damage your hardwood floor.

If your hardwood floors are exposed to sunlight, they may become discolored. Sheer drapes allow you to open your blinds and still enjoy your floor's natural color. You may also consider a light-colored tinting film on your windows to protect your hardwood floors from harmful UV rays.

Latest Trends in Hardwood Floors

Hardwood flooring has rocked the groundwork of  interior designing, making homes look more elegant, rustic and pleasant to the eye, depending on the kind of wood used. The wood flooring industry has gained a good amount of the market share, making it possible to use almost any wood for flooring. Though, there are plenty of choices in hardwood flooring, the latest species that are used are becoming a trend, since they add the old world elegance. Manufacturers have moved on from the traditional use of oak floorings to exotic species that are imported from Africa, Brazil and elsewhere from the world.

Wood from species like Bamboo, Cork, Oak, Cumaru, Beech, Santos Mahogany, Teak, Walnut, and Brazilian Cherry  are rapidly picking up as popular hardwood flooring choices. The hardwood floors might set the ambience of the room, giving it a different look and feel. Besides, other factors like foot traffic, purpose of room, and location should be considered since each of the hardwood floors has different benchmarks for wear and tear, resistance, moisture etc. So the hardwood materials durability, toughness, darkness have to be considered. Keeping all of this in mind, besides the ever-durable, timeless oak hardwood, hardwood floors made of Australian Cypress and Brazilian Cherry are becoming a rage. Those who have never seen it before cannot easily spot Australian Cypress flooring. It has an earthy tone and bears a resemblance to knotty pine. This gives it an added advantage, making it balance with the furniture around the house because of its subtle brown, shadowed amber and sporadic green. The Australian Cypress hardwood flooring is much more durable and is able to hide signs of wear because of its intricate knots and swirls. In the past five to seven years, another wood species has become very popular as hardwood flooring, known as Brazilian Cherry or Jatoba, Brazilian Cherry hardwood flooring has a different appeal from that of traditional hardwood floorings made of Oaks and Maple. It has darker shades of tan and reddish browns that will complement practically every piece of furniture in your home.

The use of Australian Cypress and Brazilian Cherry in hardwood flooring has become trendy because of their unique look. It might not agree with your tastes because of the swirls, knots and golden appearance or erratic spread of shades. This doesn’t mean that these trends have to be forced in your home. There are other trends that are fast picking up like Bamboo hardwood flooring, Distressed hardwood flooring, Santos Mahogany hardwood flooring, Cumaru hardwood flooring etc. Each of these has their unique display of ambience that can add to the finesse of home interiors.

Choosing Your Distressed Hardwood Floor

If you’ve ever noticed that the games you played as a kid have been reintroduced for your kids, or that your daughters are wearing styles that were popular thirty years ago, you’re experiencing “everything old is new again.Distressed hardwood flooring is a perfect example of the old becoming new. When hardwood floors went out of style years ago, one of the reasons was that many wood floors were distressed. At the time, this was a bad thing; the floors looked old and worn, and people wanted new, shiny hardwood floors, or, at one point, carpeting to cover the old hardwoods.
